Custom Red-Flash Boulder Opal Ring in Two Tone Gold

As many of our clients know, red is the rarest color to find in any Opal. This axiom is especially relevant in Australian Boulder Opals, which tend to gravitate more toward the blue and green color spectrum. For this reason we decided we just had to buy this gem, then set it in such a way that it can catch the light and show off that amazing red flash! As this Opal moves from north to south, a red band of color races toward the top of the gem, almost like a flame engulfing a page. Surrounding this red are other colors, like a deep green and blue, all presented against a black boulder background. While we wanted this Opal to take center stage in a ring, we also wanted to protect it, so we set it in a custom yellow gold bezel. This is then set into a white gold and Diamond ring mounting that adds interest and sparkle to the exceptional gemstone. Wow!
