This is a coveted rose gold antique engagement ring. While a popular choice among brides today, rose gold was more popular prior to 1900 in regions with strong copper production, such as northern Europe, Russia, and the Baltics. Thus we see very limited numbers of original antique engagement rings in rose gold- and this is an exceptional example, set with a sparkling antique rose cut Diamond. Stylistically this ring certainly appears northern European, Dutch if we had to guess, with the clean lines, subtle adornment, and high quality Diamond the Dutch were known for prior to 1900. The ring is set low to the hand and is comfortable to wear despite the larger size of the rose-cut Diamond. Design wise, this ring dates to approximately 1880, though the rose cut Diamond may be earlier. It is in very good condition, but as with any antique engagement ring, should be worn with care.
