This modern youthful necklace is what we call “semi-custom.” The collector client came in wanting to make a piece using the Moonstone and Garnet that she had purchased from us previously. She wanted something modern, informal, and that allowed the yellow in the Garnet to contrast with the blue sheen of the adularescence in the Rainbow Moonstone. Instead of making something from scratch, we were able to find this white gold necklace mounting from one of our suppliers, and modify it for our purposes. She liked that the mounting had an east to west presence and kept the groovy colored gemstones as the focal point of the design. We have several suppliers of ring, pendant, earring, and bracelet mountings that we can order and modify like this, which allows us to keep cost down and still deliver a unique product. What fun for the collector!
