Carved Australian Nobby Opal in Freeform Gold Solitaire

You are looking at one of the grooviest rings in our store! This custom made ring was designed around the one-of-a-kind Crystal Opal set in the center, which features every color of the rainbow. This Opal was purchased directly from the Australian miner and lapidary who thought it was notable due to the incredible fire in the Opal. When it was found, it occurred in a larger nodule- known in the trade as a nobby Opal. This gave the lapidary the gift of depth – a larger and thicker than usual Opal which was able to be carved in the natural pattern it was found in. When we purchased this Opal, we knew it would need a custom setting. Our master goldsmith designed this custom bezel which looks like wave crests, or flames, wrapping around the Opal. The grooved and carved surface of the Opal are exposed, to allow the gem to capture the light and wow the viewer with its play of color. Photos don’t do this justice- the color and texture of the ring are truly unique. For the Opal collector out there, or for someone seeking a custom Opal engagement ring, this may be the one. *Note- the gem appears more blue green in mixed light, while direct light brings out more reds.
