Product Description
This fantastic antique pendant was made to be enjoyed with a rich glass of wine. Crafted in patinated yellow gold circa 1870s, this was originally both pin and pendant, but someone removed the pin stem at some point in its history. Bezel set in the center is a sizable orange Citrine – November birthstone, stone of the Sun gods. The oval shaped pendant is further set with powder blue Turquoise cabochons in grape-clusters, with grape leaves wending and winding around the Citrine. We believe this pendant was made in honor of the Roman god Bacchus- he was the god of wine, fertility, and agriculture. Both the grapes, grape leaves, and Citrine “sun” were used in his honor, especially during the Romantic era of the Victorian period when all things Greek and Roman became popular. No matter the origin, this large antique pendant is a perfect gift for the wine-loving lady in your life. Comes with original antique gold chain- contact us for other chain options.
