Custom Jewelry Design
Your story is our inspiration. The Custom Design Experience
1. Initial Design Consultation
We offer varying levels of custom jewelry design services based on your project needs and goals. Many opt for semi-custom projects, which involve using made-to- order mountings from our collection or altering pre-existing pieces. These are quicker and more cost-effective than full custom designs. Alternatively, full custom designs allow complete control over the design process, ideal for replicating unique items or working with heirloom materials.
The process starts with a complimentary consultation where you can bring your ideas, wish list, and inspiration photos to explore our existing designs and gemstones. Our designers provide guidance and collaborate with you to refine your vision into a feasible design. Need some help determining what you want? Browse our in-stock rings and semi-mounts, discuss custom design options, and we’ll assist you in identifying your preferences in a comfortable setting.
2. Design Model Selections
Hand Drawn, Hand Carved
We specialize in old-school lost-wax casting. This method involves hand-drawing a design, carving a wax mold based on it, and casting the item in the chosen metal. Ideal for simple designs, handcrafted finishes, and gold recycling. Perfect for recreating or matching existing items, like shadow band wedding rings.
CAD Design, 3D Printed
We offer a modern approach using computer-aided design (CAD) software. This process begins with generating a computer sketch of the item, followed by crafting the wax using 3D printers and lathes, and finally casting and hand-finishing the piece with state-of-the-art equipment. Ideal for intricate designs or those wanting to preview a digital image before production. CAD designs enable easy and affordable modifications until satisfaction. This efficient process also reduces costs for custom projects.
3. Production & Your Final Product
Regardless of the process chosen, once the wax and quote are approved, our craftsmen begin making your item. Starting with casting the piece in your selected metal, followed by cleaning and polishing to its final shape. Each gemstone is then meticulously set by hand, and metalwork finishes, like rhodium plating or matte finishes, are completed. The timeframe can vary depending on the complexity of your piece. After your approval of the final piece, we send it to an independent appraiser for your peace of mind.
Custom Jewelry FAQ’s
Would you consider incorporating trade and recycled materials into my design?
We specialize in incorporating sentimental items into many of our custom projects. This may involve remounting a sentimental diamond into a new setting, modifying or adding onto a cherished piece, or even recasting old sentimental gold. Additionally, we accept scrap metals, estate jewelry, diamonds, and more as trade towards a new item or custom design. You’ll receive the full market value of the items as store credit towards your purchase, making it the ideal way to transform old or unwanted jewelry into something new that you’ll love. If the items hold sentimental value, we can reuse some materials or diamonds in your new custom piece and provide a cash credit for any leftover materials.
How much does custom jewelry cost?
Our design services and estimates are always free. During consultations, we provide clients with a rough cost estimate for their project and accommodate set budgets whenever possible.
We maintain low overheads, ensuring fair pricing, high-quality standards, and excellent service. Modifying existing jewelry or using semi-custom designs can be more cost-effective than full-custom projects. Custom projects typically start at $800-1000, but prices vary based on materials and labor and can cost more. We offer choices like gold karat and diamond quality and use upcycled materials to lower costs.
Final prices are determined once the design is finalized, giving clients the option to prepay or pay in installments as the project progresses. We accept all major credit cards and offer interest-free financing for our custom work.
What is the expected timeframe for a custom project?
For semi-custom jobs, expect completion within 1-4 weeks. Full custom designs typically take 3-8 weeks after design approval, with total turnaround time averaging 4-12 weeks including consultation. Rush options are available upon request—contact us for details.
