Product Description
The star of the show in this retro platinum engagement ring is this Caribbean-blue Zircon. Extremely popular after new deposits were found in Cambodia in the 1930’s and 1940’s, Blue Zircon was sold under the same “starlight” and marketed heavily across the country. This particular ring exemplifies the most popular styles of the time- round cutting, medium blue color, simple platinum setting, etc. One of the coolest features of this ring are the prongs holding the center Zircon. If you look closely, you can see that each prong actually contains three smaller prongs that wrap around the edge of the gem; these are known as “fishtail prongs.” These add a unique 1930’s style to the ring while also protecting the Zircon from abuse. This would make a great alternative engagement ring, but could also be worn as a December birthstone ring- perfect for someone looking for a hypoallergenic vintage ring.
Details: 900 Iridium Platinum ring with 1.70ct round Blue Zircon (Cambodia, Heat Treatment) and .16ctw single cut Diamond accents (SI GH), circa 1935.
