This classy estate ring is set with a large crystalline gem-quality Emerald in a comfortable ring mounting. Emeralds derive their green color from traces of the element chromium, which unfortunately also acts as a growth inhibitor, and they only occur in sites where great geological stress occurred. Thus Emeralds rarely get large (any over 1ct in fine quality are scarce) and they are rarely flawless (the same geological conditions that cause them to form cause them to have inclusions within them). This particular Emerald is a great example, weighing just under 3cts, and imbued with a deep Emerald green color just kissed with a hint of blue which is evidence of Colombian origin. While it has some internal characteristics- known in the trade as jardin for their garden-like appearance- these inclusions are not distracting, and the intense green color and glowing nature of the gem are the star of the show. It is set in a semi-bezel which gives the ring a modern edge and also protects the gem. Running down either side of the ring are three rows of channel set Diamond accents that bring lots of sparkle to the party. The designer of this ring intentionally set the gem in 18k yellow gold since the rich yellow hue is a nice contrast to the green Emerald, and makes the gem seem even more alive.
