Product Description
This stunning Sapphire pendant started out as a stickpin or charm and was converted into a pendant in the last decade. The center stone is one of the most unusual natural Sapphires we have seen- a perfect diamond-shaped parallelogram in a rich navy blue hue, set into a super thin platinum bezel. It is surrounded by bezel set Old European Cut Diamonds and set over a yellow gold framework. This “platinum over gold” look was popular around the turn of the century, and into the Art Deco period, as a method of creating a white metal look prior to the advent of true white gold. The end result is an elegant necklace with superb workmanship, an amazing center Sapphire, and an even better price!
Details: Platinum over 18k gold pendant with .75ct natural Blue Sapphire and .16ctw Diamond accents (SI GH), circa 1920. The sapphire appears much larger due to the unusual shape.
