Antique Bezel Set Teal-Blue Sapphire & Old Euro Diamond Halo Ring

This classic antique engagement ring is set with an unusual Sapphire- a modern addition to a century-old ring mounting. The mount, a classic halo design, was crafted in America circa 1900 of rich yellow gold and set with large sparkling European Cut Diamonds. When this mounting came in it was missing a center stone, so we had the fun task of choosing a new gem to be the focal point in this ring. We chose the Sapphire you see here, paying homage to the popularity of Sapphires in antique engagement rings, but also because the gold mounting brings out the unusual tone in this gem. The Sapphire is clearly blue, but upon close inspection there are color zones of blue and lighter green in the gem, producing flashes of teal. When compared to other Sapphires, this gem has a noticeable teal undertone relative to those with a purple hue. The low-profile bezel is the perfect everyday way to wear and enjoy this Sapphire, while still getting lots of sparkle.
