This adorable antique lavalier (antique drop pendant) is one of the most unique we have seen! Instead of the classic gold or platinum material we usually see, this lavalier is fabricated from carved Onyx, giving is a distinctive gothic edge. It is then accented with yellow gold and set with an old European cut Diamond which sparkles amazingly from the black background. This piece is very unusual- most black jewelry items were crafted as mourning pieces, but this one seems too young and too cute to be a mourning piece. We think that this was crafted for a young lady who liked to wear black- why not? This one is also hard to date- most lavaliers date to the turn of the century but the materials and design seen here suggest a later manufacture date, so we are being conservative with our 1930s circa date.
