Product Description
Rarely do we find rings nearly 200 years old; even rarer are 200 year old rings with large, natural Rubies like this one! This ring is either late Georgian or early Victorian, circa 1830-40 and is a collector’s dream. It is set with a central oval maroon red Ruby that is totally natural and untreated. It is set crown style with many small prongs holding the Ruby in place. On the shoulders of the ring are shield-shaped plaques set with six rose cut Diamonds each: these are early and primitive rose cuts with one-three large facets and showing some inclusions and naturals. They were cut and set to add sparkle to the piece, which they certainly do! The ring is crafted in a rich 14-15k yellow gold that appears darker and has its original patina intact. Despite it’s age, this ring is in good condition with no obvious damage or defects beyond minor facet wear to the ruby and some wear to the prongs. As with any antique item of this age, we encourage the new owner to wear this one carefully- and we will pay the first year’s Jeweler’s Mutual insurance premium on it!
