Product Description
We are proud to offer this exceptional “Princess Diana” style Sapphire & Diamond engagement ring. The original Edwardian piece, circa 1910, is crafted in platinum-topped rosy gold and likely of European origin. Set in the center is a sizable deep blue natural Sapphire in rose gold claw prongs. This Sapphire is an antique cushion and the perfect balance of color and tone- neither too light nor too dark, a pure blue hue, great lustre, etc. The Sapphire is accompanied by a GIA certificate stating that the gem is a natural Sapphire, untreated, and from Pailin, Cambodia which was a prominent mine at this time. Collectors now covet stones from this source similarly to gems from Burma or Ceylon. Surrounding the Sapphire is a halo of natural Old Mine Cut Diamonds, each set with its own platinum prongs. The Diamonds continue onto the shoulders of the ring with a small epaulette which gives the ring a more finished look on the hand. This Sapphire & Diamond halo ring is the original- the one from which all others have copied- a true classic. It is set low and secure for everyday wear but could equally be a special occasion right-hand ring, too. Either way, this is a resplendent bauble for the most discerning collector.
Details: antique platinum & rosy-toned gold halo ring set with 1.66ct cushion cut blue Sapphire (untreated, Cambodian) and 1.17ctw natural Old Mine Cut Diamond accents (SI2 IJ), circa 1910. GIA #1226402882, NAGL #1099645.
