Product Description
Jade experienced much popularity in the Art Deco era, and this ring is a great example of the rings popular among the jazz-age ladies. Jade represented so much- the alluring mystique of eastern mythology, the trendiness of Oriental design, plus it was said to provide good luck (important in the face of the Depression). Thus we have seen and sold a variety of Deco Jade pieces, but this ring is a shop favorite. We love the richness of the green Jadeite Jade, and we also adore the carving work. Carving allowed the jeweler to add design to the piece, but also to work with material that was more mottled; thus carving away poorer areas and leaving behind the rich green and translucent pieces that are so pretty. Carving is a lost art, with modern carvings not showing this level of detail or finesse. This oval Jade carving is 4-prong set in 10k rosy yellow gold, which was a popular and affordable material during the Depression. The gold shank features carving work which mimics the design in the Jade, so while it is not embellished with lots of blingy Diamonds, it still has richness and visual interest. Perfect for an everyday Jade ring, or someone looking for an understated Deco bauble.
