Product Description
This fabulous engagement ring screams Art Deco, with the hallmark feature of a design that is at the same time both bold and refined. This ring is a study in geometry, with square and triangular shapes creating the center profile, and further triangular cutouts completing the filigree gallery. The center old mine cut cushion dates to the middle part of the 19th century, 60-80 years before this ring was made. When the jeweler made the ring as we see it in the 1920s, they designed a square setting for the older Diamond, framed on either side by a triangle settings for the trilliant cut blue Sapphires. True to the period, these Sapphires are lab grown, but in beautiful condition and original to the ring. This deco engagement ring is signed by the maker, Belais, a pre-eminent American jeweler of the 1920s and 1930s (and inventor of high-karat white gold, hence the yellowish glow visible on the sides of this ring, which can be removed with rhodium by request).
Details: antique 18k white gold engagement ring set with .25ct old mine cut Diamond (SI IJ) and .30ctw trilliant synthetic blue Sapphires, “Belais” circa 1925.
