Product Description
Onyx rings were extremely popular in the 1920s and 1930s; the same era that gave us the first “little black dress.” Black is a neutral that goes with everything, and the jewelers of the time used Onyx as a backdrop for unusual jewelry designs. This ring comes to us from the earlier Art Deco era and consists of an 18k white gold die-struck filigree setting, set with a rectangular Onyx tablet. A single old European cut Diamond is bezel set and riveted into the center of the Onyx for a play on black/white, yin/yang. The Onyx has a scooped center that catches the light beautifully. The shoulders of the ring are covered with hand-carved filigree details which are so iconic of the period. This ring is has great presence on the hand, measuring just over 3/4 inch knuckle to knuckle, and would make a great right hand or middle finger ring.
Details: antique Art Deco ring in 18k white gold with Onyx and .10ct round Old Euro Diamond (I1 HI), circa 1925.
