Product Description
Original Art Deco engagement rings are a rarity; especially when set with natural colored gemstones like this Royal Blue Sapphire. While we commonly associate Diamonds with wedding & engagement jewelry, Sapphires were the gem of choice for affluent brides going back hundred of years, and it wasn’t until the South African Diamond mines and DeBeers marketing of the 1930s-1950s that promoted Diamonds to stardom. With that in mind, this ring is a classic engagement ring, mounted in gleaming platinum circa late 1920s. The central Sapphire is natural, both mined out of the Earth and untreated, in a rich, blue-velvet hue that glows on the hand. At first glance it appears to be a solitaire, but close inspection reveals straight baguette cut Diamonds inlaid in the shank of the ring, and old cut rounds set into the side gallery, giving the ring some added glamour and pizazz that is so characteristic of fine Art Deco pieces. The thin band makes the stones appear larger and even finer on the finger. Simply magnificent- and sizable to any ring size.
