Created in timeless 1920s style, we would expect this hand-carved 3-stone ring to be set with Diamonds, maybe Sapphires. Instead, the vintage style ring is set with natural Alexandrites- one of the rarest gemstones we carry! While we do not know the origins of this ring, it is clear that it was custom made for someone of discerning taste. The center stone is a 1ct oval Alexandrite- and quite the gem it is. It is cut beautifully (not windowed) and very clean. It has a moderate color change, with a strong teal in daylight with a purple in candlelight- see photos. The mounting is covered with hand-wrought engravings in Deco style, leading to a pair of square cut Alexandrites that sit on either shoulder. These accent gems have a similar color change to the center Alexandrite, and help the eye visualize the color change. While the color change is certainly present, the green tone in the gems is stronger than the purple, which allows us to offer the ring at a bargain price. *Based on the color change and clarity, our gemologist suspects that these Alexandrites are of Indian origin.
