British jewelers in the Victorian era were known for unique designs with subtle religious, spiritual, or superstitious significance. This particular locket is a great example- the 6 pointed star of David is in the center, set with a banded agate that signified the eye of God. The back of the piece is lidded with glass, and could be set with a photograph or lock of hair, either in memoriam or to keep a loved one safe. This is a neat way to wear a piece of history!
