Color Shift Violet Sapphire & Diamond Ring in White Gold

This stunning ring is set with a beautiful purplish pink Sapphire that has perplexed us: how do we describe one of the most unusual- and beautiful- colors we have ever seen in a natural Sapphire? To make matters more difficult, the gem shifts color. In outdoor or fluorescent lighting the gem is a plum purple, whereas in incandescent or warmer light it shifts to a magenta hue with hints of burgundy. It is certainly a beautiful color, and one that would make a purple lover proud. It features a masterful cut from one of our favorite lapidaries that is super sparkly and allows the groovy color to pop. We have set this in a classically styled ring mounting that uses a trio of round Diamonds to frame the Sapphire and add sparkle without overpowering the ring. Small Diamonds then trail down the shank which has an inverted taper, making the gems at the top appear larger. We really debated the metal color on this one: yellow gold would have enhanced the warmer pink hues, but we chose the neutral white gold since it allows the purple to predominate. This would make a fantastic engagement ring but we could certainly justify it for any occasion.
