Product Description

This modern pave set cushion shaped halo ring is set with a very rare natural Blue Spinel; a gem which has been mined in Burma and Sri Lanka for thousands of years and is often confused with its Sapphire cousins. The Spinel offers something unique- single refraction, which makes it more brilliant than Sapphire. This is a natural Burmese Color Shift Spinel, which changes between a rich navy blue in outdoor lighting, to a greyish violet under incandescent lighting, with shades of grey and steel blue in between. These gems were undervalued for many years, once only coveted by savvy collectors, but in recent years demand for these gems has surged, as colored gemstone buyers have fallen in love with Spinel’s brilliance and natural color origin. This particular gem is like watching the ocean in the midst of a storm- it is constantly changing color; because of this we wanted the gem to be the focal point of the ring design. While it is set in a Diamond halo, the accents are smaller and really just contribute some sparkle and a neutral backdrop to show off the color change. The sides of the ring are a split shank, also set with pave’ Diamond accents. Since this ring sits low on the hand and Spinel is so durable, it can be worn everyday and would make a great alternative engagement ring.

Details: 14k white gold ring with 1.82ct cushion color shift Blue Spinel (Burma, untreated) and .43ctw Diamond accents (VS GH).
