This is the most fabulous mother’s ring we have ever made! When most people think of a mother’s ring, they think of the 1960’s classics with several round stones of various colors arranged in a row on a simple band. Rarely do the colors match, and rarely does the ring impress. The client who designed this ring wanted to do the opposite with her ring. She came in with a bag of old jewelry- each piece a sentimental anniversary celebration or gift from a child- and wanted to incorporate as much as she could in the new ring. We were able to use her nicest Emerald and Ruby birthstones, her two large Diamonds, and all of her old gold toward this project. We only had to supply the center aqua teal Tourmaline (the color of her grandchildren’s eyes) to complete the gems in the ring. We crafted the ring in tricolor gold, such that it can match white, yellow, and rose gold pieces in her collection. The design is freeform with zigzags of metal moving across the finger, with the gems set in protective bezels such that the ring can be worn everyday. While the ring measures over an inch and gives a knuckle to knuckle presentation, it is comfortable on the hand and the owner loves it!
