Custom Platinum Ring with Blue-Violet Color Shift Spinel

This fabulous Spinel ring would look at home on any finger- engagement ring for a violet lover? yes please! Alternative August birthstone ring? perfect. Just because? that too. The center natural Spinel is a rare Sri Lankan gem that we would classify as a violet Spinel, but which shifts color in different lighting, from a grey violet blue in natural light to a warmer lilac purple indoors. The first photo shows both hues in combination. It was cut by our premier cutter, Anura, into an oval that is not too deep, so it appears closer to 4cts than its weight would suggest. We chose this ring mounting since the slight grey hue of the platinum is a neutral backdrop for the violet hues in the Spinel, allowing it to pop. The Spinel is flanked by trios of round and marquise Diamonds on either side, making an even larger presentation on the hand. The mounting is a classic look with modern vibes from the curving lines and fancy shaped gemstones- truly a work of art.
