Sapphires are our favorite ‘alternative engagement ring’ gemstones- and this custom ring is a perfect example. The round Blue Sapphire is set amongst top quality Diamonds- a pair of pears flank either side, and the trio are surrounded by rounds for added sparkle. This is not your average round Sapphire- in natural or fluorescent light it is a bright navy blue, and in incandescent light it takes on a steely blue-violet hue (we call these blue-violet color shift Sapphires). In addition, the Sapphire was cut into a round brilliant cut which makes it sparkle more, such that it can compete with the amazing brilliance of the Diamonds in the mounting. Despite the larger presence on the hand, this ring keeps a low profile and could certainly be an everyday item. We also like how the center three gemstones are framed by diamonds, almost the illusion of framing bands, so a wedding band wouldn’t be necessary here.
