This beautiful wedding set shows two sides of FWCJ: our antique and estate items and our custom design services. We sold the original Art Deco platinum & Diamond engagement ring to our client, then two years later helped them custom make a shadow band to wear with it. Many rings, new and old, have a side profile that is irregular so traditional wedding bands won’t sit flat against them. Thus if the client wants to wear a band we make a shadow band, where we use wax to create an exact mold of the side of the ring, then come up with a design based on the client’s taste and wish list. In this case the client wanted a ring that was in keeping with the Art Deco era, but that would give her some added sparkle. To keep cost down, we cast the new ring in white gold (it’s hard to tell the difference between it and the platinum) then set it with antique Diamonds that match those in the original ring. The finished product is a beautiful wedding band that gives her the added presence on the hand that she was looking for, but one that is in keeping with the aesthetics of the piece.
