We don’t often get the chance to make pendants for men. This project came about when one of our best clients came back from a trip with this sentimental Maori bone carving which combines several important symbols. He wanted to dress it up a little in an everyday pendant that paid homage to the original artistry of the carving. He then fell in love with a dark black chain, which is Sterling Silver with a Ruthenium finish. We needed the bail to transition color wise between the creamy bone color and the black chain, so we cast it in Silver then applied an oxidization process with a matte finish. The client then chose a natural purple Zircon to set in the bail, since it adds some needed sparkle but also gives some contrast to the neutrals going on in the piece. The final product ended up almost 4 inches long, can be worn out or under the shirt, and is a great everyday reminder of his trip.
