Product Description
This gorgeous Garnet pendant started its life as a brooch but was converted to a pendant sometime in the last 50 years. The brooch is set with a cushion shaped carbuncle- also known as a cabochon Garnet- known for the striking blood-red color. This gem is set in a repousse framework- chased floral engraving that surrounds the cabochon in classic Victorian finery. The back of the pendant is engraved “JH Ord to F Cook July 1845” which we think was when the item was first gifted, at the height of Victoria’s reign. It measures just over 1.5 inches long and would look great over the top of a sweater.
Details: antique pin-conversion pendant in 14-15k yellow gold set with 1.50ct tablet cut Garnet cabochon, Victorian c.1845.
