This Opal ring was sourced from the estate of a gentleman who had collected top quality Australian Opals for many years, and this was one of his favorite pieces. The ring is crafted in rich 14k yellow gold in a bypass design and accented with Diamonds on one side. Claw set in the center is a medium domed Opal cabochon reportedly from Lighting Ridge, Australia. This is a semi-black Opal, or grey base Opal, with a mix of color patterns: a kaleidoscope of blue, green, orange and gold dance across the surface of the gem in a combination of floral and flagstone patterns. These are large chunks of color which are bright, vibrant, and attention grabbing on the hand- everything a black Opal should be. This gem is well protected by the mounting, and as such can be comfortably worn (with standard Opal care, of course) on a regular basis- even as an Opal engagement ring.
