Cocktail watches were a staple item in women’s wardrobes for most of the last century: high-grade windup movements were coupled with gold or platinum cases, then encrusted with diamonds and gemstones. They were truly works of art, and often used the highest quality materials. In this instance, we removed the watch movement, re-positioned one of the lugs, and set a gemmy opal where the watch once resided. This was the perfect upcycle moment, since the client who owns this piece never wore the overly fancy and fragile watch, but she wears this necklace on a regular basis!
