This stunning Victorian piece is packed with hidden meaning- a hallmark of Victorian sentimentality. The snowflake was used to represent the uniqueness of the love felt for the recipient of the piece. Opals are also a one-of-a-kind item; an intentional choice as a gift for someone who was clearly very special for whoever commissioned this piece. At the center of this gold snowflake is a round Diamond, which is then surrounded by 6 equally sized and equally glorious oval Opals with lots of green, pink, and blue colors. The design is then accented by individually set seed pearls which add delicacy to the design. When it was made, this was likely worn primarily as a brooch on lapels and scarves, but it does have an original flip-up bail which allows it to be worn as a pendant too.
