Product Description
Note- this ring has sold, but we can make rings like this! Contact us to discuss a custom floral engagement ring.
Floral rings were all the rage in the late 1960s and early 1970s, when many jewelers started encompassing more artistry and sculpture in their work. This artistry peaked in conjunction with flower power, resulting in a fashion trend of hand-made and highly ornate floral jewelry. This ring is a classic example: a gold ring, carved to look like a rose. Originally cast from wax, this ring would have been sold as an engagement ring and band set, then soldered together after the wedding (we are happy to separate them for a small fee). A sizable quarter carat round Diamond is set in the center, with rose petals acting as prongs. Detailed carving work completes the rose, with leaves and vines trailing down the side and forming the shank of the ring. Additional Diamonds accentuate the organic look, as does antiquing- blackening added to the low areas to make the carving richer. This ring stands up off the hand a bit, but due to the nature of the setting it is comfortable to wear and the Diamond is secure. A beautiful mid-century engagement ring and likely nostalgic for some of you!
Details: estate engagement ring in carved 14k yellow gold set with .25ct round Diamond (SI1 clarity, J color) and .03ct Diamond accents, hand made and cast circa 1970.
