Mother of Pearl Chinese Gambling Token Jewelry Suite

This fantastic necklace & earring set are one part jewelry, another part history. Each piece is set with a carved mother-of-pearl disc, then accentuated with white Pearls. Look a bit closer and you will see that the mother-of-pearl discs are rich with symbolism; these are Chinese Gambling Tokens. These tokens were used in place of poker chips in casinos in places like Shanghai and Macau, before plastics were in use. Due to their beauty, and the fact that many people consider them good luck charms, they make excellent jewelry. This set is especially fine; each disc is set in a hand-made gold bezel; the necklace features multiple strands of cultured Pearls; the earrings are set with a beautiful Pearl meshwork. The necklace measures 16 inches, the earrings are post style.
