Product Description
This unique pendant is a bit of a mystery. The gemstone, a Demantoid garnet from Russia, was likely mined and cut prior to 1918 when the revolution ended jewelry production in what became the USSR. The cannetille gold work- which is a method by which gold wire is worked to produce intricate and lacy designs- was popular around the turn of the 20th century. However, the bail is clearly a later addition, so we think this piece was converted from some sort of pin or necklace at some point. Fortunately it looks fantastic in its current iteration and is a great example of this rare gemstone.
Details: 18k yellow gold pendant with .75ct round Demantoid garnet.
