Product Description
This authentic Edwardian jewel is a recent conversion from a pin to a more-wearable pendant form. The circular design was popular around the turn of the century, since it symbolized both continuity and rebirth at a time when much in the world was changing. In this case, alternating saltwater Pearls and Diamond-encrusted acanthus leaves make a circular wreath that is particularly enchanting. These are fine white pearls, with a creamy hue and excellent luster. The Diamonds are old European cut, and also of the highest quality. As was customary at the time the top of this piece is neutral platinum, allowing the Diamonds to pop, but the backing of the item is 14k yellow gold which isn’t visible when worn. While not marked, we suspect this was American made, and clearly by an excellent craftsmen jeweler.
Details: Platinum topped 14k gold pendant set with .28ctw old European Cut Diamonds and six 4mm round cultured Saltwater Pearls, circa 1900.
