Rare Antique Rose Gold Jugendstil Ring with Rose Cut Diamond

This is one of the more interesting antique engagement rings we have for sale. It features an original c.1900 German Jugendstil mounting in beautiful rose gold. The Jugendstil movement is considered one of the precursors to Art Deco, where designers attempted to work with organic and natural themes but in more traditional or symmetric designs. In this case, the sides of the ring are symmetrical and angular, yet accented with small leaves and vines. This original ring was set with a damaged center Diamond, so we replaced it with this period-correct rose cut Diamond. The Diamond is flat on the back but faceted on top, designed to catch the light of a candlelit dinner. Set into a crown-style head, the ring is a great example of solitaire engagement rings from the turn of the 20th century. Note- the gold is not as pink as modern rose gold, but certainly not yellow either- this northern European rose gold is a coveted color. Sizable to any size.
