Red Spinel Vintage Style Halo Engagement Ring

This fabulous engagement ring is set with an unusual strawberry red Spinel from Vietnam. The perfectly proportioned square cushion shape results in wonderful depth of color and sparkle. This gem reminded us of the red Spinels we see used in royal jewelry from the 1700s, so we decided to play up that history in the setting. The shank is scalloped and milgrained like Edwardian rings, and the Diamonds in the halo are French-set (nearly touching) like the halos we see in Victorian rings. The white gold background plays to the cool pinkish undertones in this red Spinel, and makes the gem pop. While the just shy of 1.50ct stone may seem modestly sized, this is a large weight for the species, especially for rare red Spinel from Vietnam, and the 6mm cushion appears much more substantial on the hand than the weight suggests. This is the perfect red engagement ring for someone looking for a gem other than a Ruby, or a ring with some vintage flair.
