This architectural-inspired pendant is set with an unusual Rutilated Quartz from Brazil. These is a natural Quartz crystal with golden needles trapped inside it of the mineral Rutile- it’s like seeing geology in action, as one can imagine the molten Quartz flowing around the already grown Rutile crystals. These gems are a marvel of nature, as it takes the perfect combo of ingredients and geological surroundings for them to form, and thus each one is a unique piece- just like this pendant. The client who designed this piece wanted to highlight the gold needles, but didn’t want to distract from them. Thus we used a custom made gold cap for the piece of Quartz then applied a sandblast texture which gives in a more subdued matte finish. The curving lines of the bail mimic the curvature of the gem and give the piece bilateral symmetry. This is a great piece and perfect for someone who loves modern art and sculpture.
