Top Quality Boulder Opal set in Rope-style Gold Ring

This fabulous estate ring is set with one of the most stunning green Opals we have come across. This is a solid natural Boulder Opal- it features an Opal layer still connected to the base layer of host-rock, in this case Australian ironstone. It is NOT a doublet or triplet, but solid Boulder Opal. It features a highly unusual chaff color pattern with vibrant green, orange, red and blue hues – the green is most dominant. The ring is a bezel-set solitaire, but it is far from boring. The bezel is accentuated with a rope pattern and the shank of the ring is complete with gold wire work, also known as cannetille. Thus the ring has a slightly filigreed look to it, and while it is unmarked, the design screams Italian. Note- this is a solid Opal in an original vintage ring, as such minor crazing is present; the Opal is still in good condition and we suspect it will last for generations with gentle use.
