This stunning ring is set with one of the rarest gems on earth – natural Kornerupine in a mint-green hue. Many gem collectors will be familiar with Kornerupine in other flavors; it does a nice black cat’s eye, and can be found in bottle-green and brown shades. The rare mint Kornerupine is different- it is only found in Tanzania (some people claim they are their own mineral, Prismatine, due to the difference in coloring agent), and we have seen fewer than 20 examples. Most gem aficionados will mistake this gem for Merelani Mint Garnet, or even Paraiba Tourmaline, but it is its own unique species. This gem, faceted into a perfect square cushion, weighs an impressive 2cts! Mint Kornerupine is the ultimate rare gem- it is truly beautiful AND durable enough for everyday wear in jewelry. Accordingly, we decided to mount this gem; the Kornerupine sits in yellow gold prongs, supported by a platinum & diamond shank.
