Product Description
This stunning Victorian halo engagement ring is proof that the halo design is most definitely not a modern concept. By the late 1800’s advances in cutting techniques allowed cutters to fully facet the Diamonds which gave better symmetry and sparkle, and thus the halo designs proliferated. This one is crafted in yellow gold and set with a fantastic Ruby center stone surrounded by sizable Diamond accents. The Ruby, most likely Burmese in origin, has lab paperwork accompanying it stating that it is natural and untreated. The color is primarily red with strong pink overtones and it has excellent cutting for an antique stone. It is set flush to the mounting, protecting the gem and making it more comfortable to wear, while the Diamonds are set with individual prongs which are in excellent condition. The overall spread of this ring is 1/2 inch long, so it makes a sizable impression on the finger. This ring would be a great right hand July birthstone ring but could also be worn as originally intended: as a Ruby engagement ring.
Details: 14k yellow gold ring with .70ct cushion cut Ruby (untreated) and .70ctw old Mine Cut Diamonds (SI1 HIJ), circa 1890. NAGL certificate accompanies this item with appraisal of $7200.
