Vintage Carved Rock Crystal Owl Brooch

If you’re looking for something cute to add to your lapel, or maybe you want to bring some wisdom along for the ride, then this vintage Owl brooch is the perfect jewel for you! The carved rock crystal Owl was carved over 100 years ago but remounted into this yellow gold frame in the 60s. The piece is incredibly lifelike and three-dimensional. He sits on a little branch and has a sunburst of gold framing him. He has large ears, piercing green eyes, and a cartoonish quality to him that oozes charm. The eyes are natural Demantoids, a variety of Russian green Garnet that was no longer available after the Revolution, so it allows us to date the Owl carving as older than the frame. The level of detail is simply amazing, and this would make a great addition to any figural brooch collection. Note- there is minor wear to the frosted rock crystal but this is not visible to the eye. Piece measures just over 1 inch long.
