Product Description
Bring your jewelry wardrobe into the intertidal zone with this adorable starfish pendant brooch combo by esteemed New York jeweler, Hammerman Brothers. The late 1960’s ushered in a period of jewelry design when figural jewelry pieces were all the rage- think honeybees by Rosenthal, lizards by Tiffany, etc. This is the first starfish we have ever seen, and the workmanship is top notch: every surface of the piece is finished with individual little spikes and hairs to mimic the realistic surface of a starfish. In addition to the surface finish, the piece has the original patina which gives it character and depth. The center of the little guy is set with a cluster of gems, six natural Rubies and a sizable Diamond that add some color and sparkle to the piece. The back of the solid gold piece is finished with a classic pin stem such that it can be worn as a brooch, but this also has a bail that allows it to be worn as a pendant- perfect on a long chain over a sweater. This guy measures 1.75 inches across at his widest point- the perfect size- and ideal for collectors of figural brooches.
Details: 18k yellow gold starfish pendant brooch combo with .08ct round Diamond (SI2 GH) and .18ctw round natural Rubies. Signed Hammerman Brothers, circa 1970.
