Vintage Styled White Gold Pendant & Earrings set with Burmese Red Spinels

This Spinel suite is one of our favorite items. The set includes both custom made pendant and earrings, all in white gold, set with Diamonds and natural Burma Red Spinel. When we acquired these Spinels we knew we had something special. These gems are totally natural and were sourced from old rough out of Mogok, the only source where truly blood-red Spinels are mined. These have an almost electric glow, sometimes referred to as neon Spinel, which makes them seem lit from within. These gems are no longer entering the market, are incredibly rare, and very much sought after. It took us some time to determine how to mount them, but we decided to pay homage to the historical nature of the material. Red Spinel, the great imposter, features heavily in antique and royal jewelry where it was once thought to be a Ruby. We decided that these deserved vintage styled mounts that go back to an era when these gems were even more unknown than they are today. The settings are set with Diamonds that provide a neutral accent and contrast to the almost un-believable red color, and the white gold is then detailed with filigree and milgrain work. This set is the ultimate item for the Spinel collector, someone who loves true red gemstones, or an August baby who doesn’t prefer Peridot (Spinel is an alternative birthstone for August).
